St. Archangel Gabriel
In Christianity archangel Gabriel is one of the seven great angels who stand closest to God. On Orthodox icons, he is depicted with a lighted lantern in his right hand and a jasper mirror in his left hand. The Mileševa Monastery preserves one of the most beautiful depictions of this saint - White Angel fresco (Serbian: Beli anđeo). On it is the archangel Gabriel with spread wings, sitting on a large stone dressed in a white chiton and pointing his finger at the women towards Christ's tomb.
