The coat of arms of Montenegro is in the form of a golden crowned two-headed eagle, raising his wings in flight, with a scepter in the right and a globus cruciger in the left claw, on red backgruound. On the chest of the eagle lays a shield with a golden lion passant. The lion is on a green field with a blue background. The modern coat of arms of Montenegro is based on the appearance of the coat of arms of the Crnojevic dynasty.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Njegoš's death, in 1951, the Government of the People's Republic of Montenegro decided to build a mausoleum on Mount Lovćen in honor of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš, replacing the chapel that had previously stood there. This monumental structure was completed in 1974 based on the design of the renowned Yugoslav architect and sculptor Ivan Meštrović. The mausoleum was built at an elevation of 1,660 meters (5,446 feet) above sea level and stretches across the entire Jezerski Peak. It is reached through a tunnel with 461 steps.
In the Historical Museum is preserved a company flag of the Montenegrin army from the Battle of Vučji Do. The Battle of Vučji Do, fought on July 28, 1876, was one of the largest battles of the Montenegrin–Ottoman Great War (1876–1878). Bearing an impressive number of bullet holes, the flag attracted attention not only in Cetinje but also in London, where it was exhibited at the Exhibition of the Balkan Countries in 1907. The flag is rectangular and has a single face (one-sided design). Its light red field is hand-sewn across the width from two pieces of cloth and bordered on all four sides by a wide white edge. At the center of the field is a cross bearing the initials of Nicholas I (King Nikola I of Montenegro).
Saint Vasilije of Ostrog (born Stojan Jovanović in 1610 in Mrkonjići and died in 1671) is one of the most venerated saints in the Eastern Orthodox Church. His incorrupt relics rest in the Ostrog Monastery in Montenegro, one of the most important pilgrimage sites and spiritual centers in the region, renowned for numerous accounts of healings and miracles. He devoted his life to preserving the Orthodox faith and helping those in need. His veneration remains deeply rooted, and believers of all faiths visit his shrine in the Upper Monastery of Ostrog every day, seeking healing, peace, and blessings.
